The peak time for tree pollen sufferers in the UK

The ‘hay fever season is well and truly upon us, and this month is the peak for birch tree pollen with many sufferers already experiencing the classic symptoms including a runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose, itchy watery eyes and coughing.

If you walk along your street or park or look closely at trees in your neighbour’s gardens, you’re likely to find a birch tree as they’re one of the most popular trees for planting.

But pollen from the birch tree is one of the most allergenic and Allergy UK says it estimates that 25% of the population in the UK suffers from allergy-related symptoms.

Aston spoke to Margaret Kelman, specialist allergy nurse at Allergy UK.
