The rise of online dating

Online dating has really established itself as the pre-eminent form of meeting someone, when only a few years ago it was still looked down upon.

This is according to a new survey by Ashley Maddison.

In fact, of those questioned, more than half (62%) believe they are most likely to find a relationship online rather than face-to-face (38%).

And those going online are looking for more than a traditional romance, with almost half (47%) confessing they’re looking for ‘friends with benefits’ and 1 in 5 (20%) wanting an affair compared to a mere 13% looking for a long-term relationship.

Aston spoke to psychotherapist and relationship expert Lucy Beresford.
