The science of our gut health

We’ve all been there, that first date with the person of your dreams, the big job interview that could change everything, or the school exam that makes your insides feel like they’re hosting a butterfly convention.

Rest assured, you’re not alone, new research has revealed more than three-quarters (77%) of us admit to feeling “butterflies”, nearly two-thirds (62%) experience that familiar “sinking feeling”, and almost two in three believe big moments have prompted a “nervous wee”.

While most people put these feelings down to nerves or excitement, only 3% realise what’s really happening inside their bodies, according to figures from PrecisionBiotics®.

As International Stress Awareness Week begins, we’re being encouraged to pay attention to what our gut might be saying.

Aston spoke to Dcotor Rabia, gut doctor, yoga and hynotherapist.
