Turner prize-winner launches project to honour “unseen social work” during Social Work Week 2026
Turner Prize-winning artist, Helen Cammock, has created a thought-provoking plaques in collaboration with Social Work England to spotlight the often-unseen role of social workers and the positive impact they have on the lives of millions of people, every day.
New data shows only 9% of news coverage about social work references wider contexts where social workers make a positive impact on people’s lives, such as in palliative care, mental health and rehabilitation* of both adults and children.
Titled ‘Social Work Happens Here’, the commission depicts a powerful poem Helen wrote after speaking with social workers and will be displayed at locations including Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridgeshire, London Ambulance Service in Waterloo and Momentum Children’s Charity in Surrey.
Aston spoke to Colum Conway, chief executive of Social Work England.
