A new survey of people with a clinical diagnosis of asthma has been released today, revealing how few people have been allergy tested, despite strong evidence that certain allergies can increase the chances of an asthma attack.

The survey also revealed that of those who have been allergy tested, a large majority found that knowledge of their allergies triggers had helped them manage their symptoms better.

With the cost of treating asthma reaching over £1 billion per year, why are more people not being checked for allergies?

Aston spoke to Dr Shuaib Nasser, Consultant in the Department of Allergy, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust about as to why asthma sufferers haven’t been allergy tested.
