UK adopts new targets for greenhouse gas emissions

Without smart meters Britain’s efforts to meet its climate change targets will be slower, more expensive, riskier and more complex.

A failure to embrace the in-home technology – and the flexible energy system it facilitates – could result in the UK missing its targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions. And it could also be worse for consumers.

That’s according to a new report commissioned by Smart Energy GB, released in the wake of the Committee on Climate Change’s recommendation that Government should raise its current target on cutting greenhouse gas emissions to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Aston spoke to Robert Cheesewright – Director of Corporate Affairs at Smart Energy GB to discuss  the implications of the report.
