World Whisky Day

12th May 2021
Posted by Aston Avery

World Whisky Day invites everyone to enjoy a dram and celebrate the water of life. Celebrated every year on the third Saturday in May, this special occasion is marked by whisky lovers worldwide with tastings, events and gatherings. But this year is a little different, with the event aiming to make whisky fun for all, and not so exclusive.

When it comes to whisky in 2021, the rule book is being well and truly thrown out the window. Despite what experts tell you, there is no right or wrong way to drink whisky. As long as you enjoy it, that’s all that matters. Yes, you can swirl the glass, or add a splash of water if you wish, but these days there are so many more exciting ways to enjoy your tipple.

Nowadays, it’s all about mixing. In fact, mixers are now the fastest-growing sector of soft drinks. Like its good friend gin, which has seen an explosion in varieties of tonics to blend with the classic spirit, whisky is now introducing itself to an entirely new audience, by making it accessible to all palates.

Aston spoke to mixologist Jody Buchan to celebrate World Whisky Day.
