Female hair loss – the silent pandemic
We are all familiar with male hair loss, but how it impacts women is rarely discussed. Now, new research has revealed what hair stylists have known for a long time; millions of women are also struggling.
In fact, more than a third (39%) have suffered, and the lack of awareness around the issue has caused them to feel sad (61%), embarrassed (61%) and ashamed (28%).
Nearly half (44%) said they were devasted when they first realised while 7% said they felt suicidal.
Most (51%) attribute their hair loss to episodes of stress, and poor mental and physical health – something that VEGAMOUR, who commissioned the research know to be true.
Ros spoke to hairstylist and author Jordanna Cobella.
