Football super agent Jon Smith on careers in the football industry

The football transfer window is open, and in the same way players spend the summer considering their options and potential career-defining next move, school leavers and their influencers must think carefully about what they do next.

It comes as new research reveals that, whilst there’s many career routes into the football sector other than professionally playing, 2 in 5 (40%) young people believe it’s impossible to have a career in their favourite sport.

Perceived required skills for a career in the football industry include physical fitness (79%), teamwork (79%) and effective communication (43%) but only 4% of young people consider financial skills as essential for a career in football.
