Listen: why more of us should adopt a cat

Cats possess many great qualities and make excellent companions but when it comes to the reasons why you should get one as a pet, it seems many of us are still feeling confused.

New research from animal welfare charity, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, has revealed what we are looking for in a pet with almost half of us (48%) wanting affection, a quarter (25%) looking for a smart pet and 37% would love a new pet to be playful.

But how many of us are aware these are all traits associated with our feline friends? 

When it comes to our kitty knowledge, just 37% know that stroking a cat can increase your dopamine levels and 78% didn’t know it releases the love hormone oxytocin.
