UK based animal charity Viva! has stepped up, alongside its sister organisation Viva! Poland, to provide vital support to animals and owners caught in the crossfire of war.
Viva! UK has raised over £88,000 and are in regular contact with the six refugee centres of Warsaw to provide the pet food they require. Of the 100 tonnes of food the charity has provided, the majority has been sent to Ukraine for distribution by a separate organisation, Animal ID Ukraine.
Viva! Poland, has already taken in over 120 dogs and cats from Ukraine into their sanctuary (which already had 350 animals) and more are on their way. Many more animals require their help but they are reaching full capacity.
Ros spoke to Juliet Gellatley, founder of Viva! UK and Viva! Poland.
