Pharmacies could be the answer in tackling the UK’s major health conditions

Our local pharmacies are a great source of advice and information on lowering our risks of serious health conditions including cancer, heart disease and type 2 diabetes but according to a new survey, only 9% take advantage of seeking this help.

Additionally, only 2% of people say they visited their pharmacist for a blood pressure check in the past year, despite an estimated 4.8 million people in the UK living with undiagnosed high blood pressure.

The survey, commissioned by the British Heart Foundation (BHF), Cancer Research UK, Diabetes UK and Tesco, found many people could be missing out on opportunities to access free advice via their local pharmacies that could help them make life-changing improvements to their health.

Ros spoke to pharmacist Jonathan Bridgett.
