Pump prices fuel EV demands

This Clean Air Day (Thursday 16 June 2022), as fuel prices continue to increase and the average cost to fill a family car up had exceeded £100, new research from Audi shows that more than half (56%) of us believe that moving to an electric vehicle is an important step in reducing their carbon footprint.

Air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK every year – the World Health Organisation and the UK Government recognise that it is the largest environmental health risk we face today.

Indeed, in the past six months 24% of us have either bought or thought about buying an electric vehicle due to the increase in petrol costs increasing to 43% of 16 to 24 year olds.

Despite the clear benefits of buying an EV, the main reasons as to why people have not yet made the transition is because they feel they are too expensive to buy (43%), there are limited access to charging points (28%) and they have doubts around the technology (17%).
