The cost-of-living crisis is impacting our health

The rising costs of energy, transport and food is forcing people to revaluate their finances this winter, and in turn is impacting our musculoskeletal health.

A quarter of UK adults say they plan to keep their heating off this winter, gym members are down, and Brits are opting for cheaper food options over healthier ones, resulting in a perfect storm to exacerbate MSK issues.

This is not good news for the already 20 million people in the UK living with MSK conditions, and with the British Medical Journal recently reporting more than half of British people (55%) say their health has already been negatively affected by the rising cost of living, a discussion around how people can seek help and stay active, is vital.

So, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy are on hand to provide advice for anyone in need and direct them to vital services to help people stay fit and healthy.

Ros spoke to Matt Harrison, first contact practitioner.
