Tonnes of food is wasted every day

At a time when we are all looking to save money, it makes no sense that tonnes of food is wasted in the UK every day. Plus, it is harming our planet too.

To mark Stop Food Waste Day – a day aiming to educate and ignite action against food waste for the sake of our planet – the world’s largest surplus food app, Too Good To Go, has surprised top food bloggers with a luxury five-course tasting menu made entirely from rescued food waste.

The ambitious stunt is designed to challenge perceptions of food waste and inspire the public to take action.

The menu featured items such as: smoked salmon cream, using creme fraiche from Yeo Valley that was past its Best Before date; chocolate tart using melted surplus Easter Eggs; and apple gels and citrus mousses using damaged apples and lemons that were destined for the bin.

Ros spoke to Jamie Crummie, co-founder of Too Good Too Go.
