Vanessa Feltz on the lunchtime limbo

Britain’s workers are in a lunchtime limbo, according to new research out today which shows that a third (33%) never venture outside their home or workplace during their working day.

Only 14% of workers leave their workplace every day for fresh air, with many opting to eat lunch at their desk, suggesting the lunch break is becoming endangered.

Academic studies have proved the significant mental and physical health benefits of eating outdoors and that walking for just 15 minutes a day can help reduce stress*.

Despite these powerful benefits, the study by plant-based food pioneers Gosh! found that a worrying 58% of the respondents questioned admitted to completely skipping their lunchtime meal at least once a week.
