What makes a person rich in 2025?

Is wealth about private jets and designer bags—or something more?

A new report from HSBC UK reveals that while many still associate riches with yachts (48%) and private jets (51%), high earners (£100K+) and Gen Z are redefining wealth in surprising ways.

But how much money do Brits think it takes to be “rich”? The magic number is £213K per year—six times the UK’s average salary (£37,430).
