Sunday Delight – 17th September

18th September 2023
Posted by Ros Connors

Hello dear listener.  Here is another eclectic mix of fine tuneage for you to enjoy on a September afternoon.  Our ‘Retro Rewind’ takes us back to the year 1962 when the first Ford Cortina saloon was unveiled and the UK singles chart was mainly dominated by crooners.

I’m taking a slight pause here for Molly, our unofficial radio station cat who passed away on Saturday 16th September.  She has been around since Gateway first began life back in 2007, and her inquisitiveness while setting up two of our remote studios meant she managed to get herself on air on some occasions by simply being mischievous in her own feline way.  As I’ve probably spent more time with Molly at my side than anyone else, I will perhaps feel her loss the most now she is gone.  Molly showed amazing resilience in her latter years as she battled some major health issues that involved two lots of successful surgery.  Even with her most recent battle against an incurable cancer that meant she lost the sight in her right eye, she never once complained, that amazing resilience and a desire to simply carry on as normal no matter what, remaining all the way to the end.  Sleep well my little princess.

R.I.P. Molly.

Enjoy the tunes.
