Neil Gits A Huge Fly In The Studio

Being tucked away deep inside the Eastgate Centre as we are at Gateway, there is absolutely no view of the outside world from our HQ, let alone from inside Studio 1 where I broadcast from live every Monday. Many a time I’ve arrived in Basildon in warm sunshine then three hours later stepped outside to find darkness has brought with it a downpour of biblical proportions. One one or two occasions in the winter months, I’ve emerged to find my car under about three inches of snow !

It’s quite a trek from the “Neil-Mobile” to the console (I am glad I don’t have to carry in all the original vinyl I play !) and not easy to explain to the odd guest I might have once in a blue moon just how to find us, once the centre is shut for the day, so my mind was boggled when a rather big fly started making a nuisance of itself, buzzing around my mic and headphones last Monday – god knows how long it took it to reach us from the Essex air or what route it took !

Being the pro I am, I didn’t let it distract me (well, only a little bit!) from presenting my weekly two hours of the good stuff to you and my ‘live’ listeners enjoyed some cracking soul, jazz-funk & disco tunes from the 70s 80s & beyond.
