It’s been cold enough recently to wear my favourite winter coat every time I go out. Apart from being nice and warm, I like it because it has lots of pockets and I can keep everything I need in it for a trip almost everywhere without carrying a bag – apart from a a couple of plastic ones for the supermarket run ! Of course, there are times when I do need to carry some bulkier items around with me, like CDs for Gateway and that’s when my equally favourite all-weather rucksack comes into play …
I’ve noticed in recent years that I’ve been having something akin to an “Arsene Wenger Moment” when trying to get my rucksack back on in a hurry at the end of a show, it seemed to be just that bit too small when fully loaded up to fit easily over my shoulders when wearing two or three layers of warm clothing inside the coat. Then I remembered something last week – it has adjustable straps ! DOH !!
And so I can add another item to my list of “Things I’ve Had Time To Work Out Properly Now I’m Retired” and I get home about 15 seconds earlier on a Monday night to chill out on the sofa after another busy show. This week’s one was particularly frantic as it was the special “All Request” one and really needed to go like clockwork in amongst all the usual little hurdles I am prone to trip up over in the studio, but I think it turned out alright and if you didn’t listen live you can hear it on the ‘Repeat Play’ today at 5pm or use the catch-up page instead …
