Like a vast number of other people in the country, I do a lot of TV watching to relax and like to put my feet up after a busy day of dealing with all sorts of important stuff just like everyone else. OK … I’m retired now … but that doesn’t mean I spend all day watching telly – just most evenings ! Although I am something of a technophobe in most areas one piece of gadgetry which I have come to embrace is The Firestick. I still remember getting so excited when I had Sky TV installed in 2002 but I cancelled my subscription a couple of years ago as I just wasn’t watching anything anymore that was exclusive to that company.

As the saying goes (rather cruelly I’ve always thought!) “there’s more than one way to skin a cat” and with the aid of my little black stick in the back of the TV and something they call “streaming” I have a huge great universe of drama, comedy, documentaries, cartoons, sports & music shows, both old and new (but mainly old !) at my finger tips. But then … shock horror !… last week everything went kaput – PANIC !!!!

After a few slightly frustrating but also fairly interesting phone calls with a couple of different helpful people at Amazon offering pearls of wisdom (and yes … they did include ‘turning it off an on again’ !!) it transpired that my poor 5 year old and hugely overworked stick had come to the end of its capabilities. As the various pearls had failed to provide any solution to the problem I was having, Mr & Mrs Amazon agreed there was an irreversible fault and kindly offered to sell me a brand new super improved one at half the usual price, complete with a remote volume control and one touch access to Netflix and Prime Video … and I love it !!

Can’t sit here waffling, I’ve got more telly to watch … in the meantime here are the tunes I played last Monday on my show which you can hear ‘as live’ on the ‘Repeat Play’ which returns this Saturday at 5pm …
