Neil Gits A Brilliant Idea !

I don’t normally think quite so far ahead, but I got a gentle nudge this week to let me know that Xmas Day falls on a Monday this year and as I’ve already made tentative plans to spend the day eating and drinking with my son, I politely declined the kind offer by management to come into Basildon and do my show live as I would normally 99 times out of 100 ! This means that there will be only three “Old Gits Soul Shows” in December so I have decided to have a bit of a jiggle around, drop a couple of the usual weekly/monthly features next month and do something that I’ve never done before … an ‘All Request’ show !

In recent years I have had some terrific suggestions for songs to play in my shows and I feel pretty confident that I can find at least 20 people who have tuned in regularly and given me interesting ideas to come up with one more for a one-off special “Cool Soul Choice Cuts” programme which I plan to broadcast on Monday 11th December (and may well be repeated on December 25th if they can’t find any other sucker to come in whilst stuffed with turkey and full of Xmas pud !)

So, get your thinking hats on Soul Fans – is there a little known soul gem that you once heard me play for the first time that you’d like to hear again ? Did you request a song that I had to obtain specially which could stand up to being repeated ? Have I played a previously unheard track to your ears by a soul supertstar which you fancy hearing again ? Maybe you have a list already & want to nudge something special up the queue to get it on air next month, rather than next year ? NO XMAS SONGS !!

The deadline is Friday 8th December so I can spend all weekend putting the show together (instead of watching football !) and you can submit your ‘choice cuts’ as comments on a special pinned post on our Facebook page “The Old Gits Soul Show” which I will watch carefully over the next five weeks … should be interesting !
