Neil Gits A Broken Plate

15th July 2023
Posted by Neil Matthew

In my previous life, I was so busy hosting and preparing quiz nights all week that I barely found time to cook properly – I lived mainly on ready meals, takeaways and fast food ! Consequently, any washing up that needed doing got left on the kitchen top for quite a while, at best getting done in a “binge wash” maybe once a week. Thankfully that situation has changed dramatically now and I spend a little time at the sink almost every day now, keeping on top of things.

Last week, I bought a brand new washing up bowl as my old one had at one point developed a large crack in one of the handles, was held together by gaffer tape and in any case had got into a shocking “uncleanable” state underneath – yuk ! On it’s first use, I was dismayed to find one of my admittedly old but really good quality side plates that I’d inherited from my mum when I moved in my house years and years ago, lying in two pieces at the bottom of the bowl ! I’d not dropped anything on it and wasn’t aware of any cracks in it, so I was quite shocked, it’s been a long time since I broke a plate or smashed a glass in any situation. It seems that my new bowl might be nice and clean and sturdy, but it appears to have something of a vicious nature ….

Back in the studio, all went smoothly this week, nothing got broken and stress levels for this presenter and his listener remained low – there was no “Soul Connection” !! If you didn’t get to enjoy your two hours of soul, jazz-funk & disco live last Monday, today’s the day (Saturday) when you can hear the ‘Repeat Play’ between 5 & 7 pm, followed of course by the UK Soul Chart Top 30 if you fancy checking out some of the very finest 21st Century Soul around at the moment – get listening !! 🙂
