Neil Gits A Bulldog Clip

4th January 2025
Posted by Neil Matthew

With so much of life being lived online, in a cloud or via a smart phone these days (though definitely not by yours truly !) it occurred to me recently that various commonplace items of stationery must be on the way to becoming extinct ! Drawing pins, rubber bands, staples and pencil erasers are all things I often use here in the office at “Old Gits HQ” but are maybe items that the modern 21st Century business executive rarely , if ever, uses. Would you even have any of these in your house ?

Personally, I love a paper clip and use them a lot, expecially as I have an almost unhealthy obsession with making lists ! However last month, I was able to renew acquaintances with their long lost cousin … the bulldog clip ! I surprisingly found one inside my rather high quality cracker at our Xmas dinner and was genuinely thrilled to get something actually useful for once, instead of your typical piece of plastic tat which gets lost on the floor under the table within about five minutes of the amusing bang !

I am indeed looking at this shiny little metal beauty now as it is in use alongside my PC, holding my ever growing pile of lists of great old soul songs to find and play on my show one week soon. As it happens, two of those songs have been crossed off the top list today and will be played between 7 & 9pm this Monday. By the way, I’ve just realized that the ‘Repeat Play’ of my recent “70s & 80s Special” is on air right now as I post this, so if you didn’t catch it live, tune in NOW on Gateway and enjoy the nostalgia ignited by this smashing playlist :
