I just couldn’t help myself ! After two months not being out there due to the cold, dark afternoons, sitting indoors on my own, I simply HAD to attend my first football match of 2022 last Saturday when I caught a glimpse of sunshine at lunchtime following a very misty morning. First of all I made sure I was “double layered” – T-shirt and polo top under a sweatshirt and thick coat, with the hood up over a woolly hat, lightweight trackies under my jeans and thick socks inside my trusty walking boots. I didn’t bother with a scarf though …
Naturally, if I go to a game, my camera comes too, but usually I am only out in sunny or at least bright weather, not seeing kick-off under floodlights in almost dusk like conditions, so I never think of altering the menu settings. First corner of the match, first chance to catch some action …. camera out, press the silver button and FLASH !!! Oooops, these days it is not common to see that happen when people take photos at sports events, with the clever technology around these days, but mine is a humble domestic digital camera … and clearly the default setting is “Flash Auto”. I do hope I wasn’t responsible for the keeper fumbling the cross ! Luckily I know him from outside football, no goal ensued and we had a quick chuckle about it afterwards as he came off the pitch …
No need to worry about the weather or lighting conditions when it comes to “The Old Gits Soul Show” each Monday !
