Neil Gits A Green Box

Although the ‘Silly Season’ of December is now thankfully well behind us, the after-effects linger on as we make our way tentatively into the New Year. I’ve noticed that the roads and the shopping centres are considerably quieter than in the last few weeks, but that may be down to the cold, wet & downright miserable weather we’ve been experiencing recently as much as anything. We all want to get cracking with our exciting new plans for 2026 and push on with those New Year Resolutions … but it is just too nice and warm inside to venture out just yet !

My local ‘Council Collection Operatives’ (it seems you don’t call them ‘Bin Men’ any more…) have certainly been derailed from their usual efficient routines. Their Tuesday appearance in our street was put back three days to Friday and it appears that they are now coming one day earlier each week until they get back to their normal day of gathering all the waste & rcycling stuff. It certainly seems to have caused some confusion down my road as last week I found an extra un-labelled green glass & tin container on my front lawn which didn’t belong to any of my immediate neighbours – and still nobody has noticed theirs is missing and retrieved it !
