Neil Gits A Lemon Blizzard

I’m all about nostalgia – definitely with my music, a lot of the time regarding football … and even sometimes in my food choices too ! Recently we went to a Harvester in the area, perhaps a little foolishly on a very hot Sunday afternoon, and expected the place to be heaving with families, comprised mainly of badly behaved children & super stressed parents, not normally a combination that lends itself to a nice, relaxing atmosphere for a meal. I have to say though we had a really enjoyable visit – the aircon was working well, the staff were running things like clockwork & the food was top notch. Put those things together and even the most disfunctional of families should be able to relax & enjoy their visit !

But the icing on the cake (almost literally for us !) was that the revived “Lemon Blizzard Dessert” brought back as a ‘limited edition’ menu item to help mark Harvester’s 40th Anniversary this summer, was still available to order … 🙂 It was Ann who REALLY needed one, I’m not normally a lemon type of guy when it comes to sweet treats, but I just had to join her and my verdict was – utterly divine ! Any more of those though, and I’ll soon be fitting snuggly back into the jeans that I’ve found to be a bit too big to wear now my waistline has shrunk a little following 2-3 years of comfort guzzling coca cola and binge eating countless bars of chocolate !!

Of course, my number one passion is the soul, jazz-funk & disco music that I love to share with you, pretty much mostly from the years just before The Berni Inn re-branded itself into the restaurant we know and love today.
