It’s been a shocking couple of weeks ! If it can break or go wrong, it has, some things more expensively and inconveniently than others admittedly, but as the saying goes “It never rains but it pours”. First the washing machine developed a fault that left my Monday morning wash stuck in the drum for seven days and in the process of sorting that out I was told that it would cost more to repair than it would to buy a new machine. Whilst removing the broken one and installing its replacement, the plastic kitchen pedal bin came a cropper, then shortly afterwards my watch strap snapped as I put it on my wrist before going out …
So it continued … a hole and two large tears simultaneously seemed to appear in my beloved walking boots (now resolved as you may have read last week !) and my eight year old mobile phone, which doesn’t do very much useful stuff anyway, decided it was only going to let me make or receive calls when the wind was in the right direction ! I can still text OK … I think …but that story may well be picked up in a future blog !
The set was completed when my trusty radio alarm clock suffered “red LED failure” meaning that the “8” in the digital hours display now appeared as a “9” and the “6” as a “5” – not helpful at all when you nearly always get up between 8am & 9am, making it a confusing way to start the day. Happily A13 Annie came to my aid and kindly sourced a suitable new one for me, whilst I stumbled upon a perfect cheap new plastic bin on a ‘wander’ last Wednesday, so things are nearly back to normal now.
Half of this happened on a week when I had a couple of other minor personal issues to deal with and the other half on a week when I had to go out for various meetings and appointments every single day – quite unusual for me now at a time in my life when I can often go three or four days without leaving the house ! So it will come as no surprise to you to hear that I am currently savouring a very quiet day here at “Old Gits HQ”, just engrossed in my music, sorting out the tunes and compiling the playlist for Monday’s next live show.
