Neil Gits A Steakhouse Stack

21st January 2024
Posted by Neil Matthew

If you were listening to the live show last Monday, you might have heard me play a ‘request’ for a certain Ronald McDonald which was my own unique way of finding room for “Give It To Me Baby” by Rick James on this week’s playlist. By now you might even have seen the TV ad for the latest McDs limited edition burger that features a decent chunk of that 80s soul hit … and I am delighted to say that having played the song and watched the commercial (several times!) I have now had the full “Steakhouse Stack Experience” in one of my local Maccy D’s outlets !

Without turning this into a full-on shameless promotion for one of the best known of all global brands (they hardly need plugging on my humble show really !) it was particularly tasty, the meat itself in these ‘special creations’ often seems to be of a higher quality than in your bog standard Big Mac or Quarter Pounder With Cheese, but of of course, without using a snippet of a great Motown Funk Classic in their commercial, I might never have even looked up from my paper during the ad break in the footy highlights …

I do get inspiration for songs to play on my show from all sorts of unusual sources and if you maybe hear an ear-catching 70s or 80s soul, jazz-funk or disco track in unexpected circumstances on your travels do let me know and listen out one Monday evening to hear the whole thing in all its orignal glory. I just ealized the other day that “A13 Annie’s” choice last week came from a scene in a film all about viagra !!
