Neil Gits A Weeping Football

30th April 2021
Posted by Neil Matthew

Time to talk telly again !! My binge watching over the last year has included catching up with numerous episodes of Doctor Who on the BBC i-player. As a nipper, I really enjoyed the Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee & Tom Baker era and LOVED it when Matt Smith took over at a time when Nathan was the right age to get into the show with me too ! But, I hardly saw any of the first four series of the “2005 re-boot” featuring Christopher Eccleston & David Tennant, so have been filling in some big gaps in my Time Lord knowledge …

Last week, I finally saw the debut appearance of the disturbing “Weeping Angels” which was great, but a few days later I had a un-nerving experience in a similar vein taking place in my own back garden. The toddlers next door have now got to the stage where finding one of their footballs on my lawn is not uncommon (been there, done that!) but due to the eccentric layout of my house, it’s not easy for me to just pop out there and chuck it back over the fence. So over the course of the next two days, I observed from my kitchen window that each time I looked out, the big red ball was getting closer to my house – but I never saw it move once !! A “Weeping Football” maybe ?!

Of course, we had a bit of a windy one that weekend, but I wasn’t taking any chances and first thing Monday morning I dispatched the ‘evil monster’ from whence it came ! And yes, this IS one of my blogs that actually is not even tenuously linked to the show … so scroll donw now to see the latest playlist which you can hear this Saturday repeated on Gateway from 5-7 or select ‘Cool Soul’ from ‘Listen Again’ to enjoy the tunes at your leisure…
