It was not a good week to try and get from Essex to Kent and back, but I had to do it twice – with somewhat different results ! Tuesday was all about taking advantage of the exceptionally good weather for October and meeting up with old friends socially at Herne Bay. I was aware of issues at the Dartford Crossing and allowed an extra hour for my journey, not that there was really any strict schedule, being retired – as long as I got fish n chips for lunch by the sea ! Alas, my plans didn’t quite go the way I expected as the football match I had intended to take in during the evening was postponed. I found another game quite a bit further across the county, but the upside of that was that when I came back to Essex about 11.30pm, I sailed through the tunnel, even more quickly than usual at night !
Yesterday, I was back again on football business, and this time I had no trouble at all getting over the Thames but coming back mid-afternoon was a slog, simply because it always is on a Friday !! I was well -prepared for both trips of course, with a bag full of drinks and biscuits and naturally enough soul music on CD to more than allow for any lengthy delays and keep me sane ! If you struggled to get from A to B this week and really need some chill out time with some marvellous soul tunes, don’t forget that the ‘Repeat Play’ of my show will be on air at 5pm this evening (Saturday) to do the trick – these are the songs featured last Monday :
