Neil Gits An Older Woman !

There is usually something to look forward to early in a New Year for me as my partner – known to regular listeners as “A13 Annie” ! – has her birthday in the first week of January and the challenge is always there to find something special to do or go to at a time of year which is inevitably rather quiet. A challenge indeed in previous years, as we have often found out to our disappointment that a venue we’d hoped to patronize was still closed after Xmas or a restaurant that was actually open hadn’t had its first delivery after the holidays and was missing half the menu ! Then there’s the weather … more than once we have been totally drenched or blown inside out, sometimes both, although we have yet to get stuck in a snow-drift together … there’s still time !

It didn’t happen this year though, in fact, I didn’t even see Ann on her birthday as she was busy, busy, busy getting ready to be spoilt rotten , no expense spared, by her daughter and son-in-law, on a trip where bad weather would definitely NOT be a consideration ! Instead, we chatted online in between the songs on my show, which of course included one or two ‘Annie Classics’, while she made her preparations for the adventure ahead. One VERY special thing about her latest birthday is that for the first time since I met her over 6 years ago, our ages now don’t even begin with the same number – for a few months at least – so that while I have always made a jokey big thing about dating “an older woman” I can now REALLY have some fun at her expense about being her “toy boy” !!! lol
