Neil Gits Ants (But Not In His Pants!)

I can’t ever recall ever being ‘cool’. Don’t get me wrong, I have many good memories from my days of being a DJ, Quizmaster and radio Presenter, with some wonderful moments along the way, but I don’t think at any time over the years I could possibly have been described as ‘cool’. James Brown – “The Godfather Of Soul” – was always cool though. He survived at the top of his game for many, many years, regularly keeping in touch with changes in musical trends to stay popular with the soul crowd and new generations of fans, but making sure he kept the magical ‘funky thang’ about his music well & truly intact. Even when he sang that song about having an infestation of irritating tiny insects in a most uncomforatble location, he still managed to nake it sound cool !

In my humble little world, ants aren’t a problem I’ve had to deal with for a few years – until recently. I spotted one on the kitchen worktop which soon bcame two, then four and so on until by the afternoon a proper little army was on manoeuvres there ! There is much to admire about ants, they are certainly clever little creatures, but you don’t want to find one in your maramalade when making toast for breakfast or dip your hand in the biscuit tin for a snack and come out with one climbing up your wrist !! So, it was time to be ruthless and ping open the ‘ant bait’ followed by a warning spray of Nippon into the suspected nesting areas outside nearby and within 24 hours there was no sign of ant activity anymore and so far it has stayed that way … fingers crossed !
