Gosh, it’s been a long summer (so far!) and I have to say quite a few of my “essential jobs” have had to be put on the back burner while I cope with trying to work in ridiculous temperatures both inside and outside “Old Git Towers”. However, after ‘a few drops of rain’ over the last couple of days and proper English summer readings on the thermometer, I am getting back on track so the “Cool Soul Blog” returns today !
I did make sure I got my boogie shoes down to Margate last Saturday though for the Soul Festival and as always it didn’t disappoint, with sunshine all day, the weather being just the right side of too hot with a smashing sea breeze occasionally and plenty of welcome shady spots to dive into amongst the streets of the old town. I caught up with lots of old faces and checked out all the bars & stages pumping out the good stuff across the day and there were some excellent tunes being played, particularly at my fave MSF venue “The Lighthouse” right out at the end of the harbour arm. I even got to see Deniece Williams doing a live set of her hits, just before I grabbed some chips and returned home to put my poor old git feet up !! The day (and rest of the festival) is reflected in some of my choices for this week’s show which you can enjoy either via the “Listen Again” facility or by tuning in today (Saturday) at 5pm when the official repeat play goes out.
