Neil Gits Closer To 60

28th May 2021
Posted by Neil Matthew

There was no blog from me last week as I was away on one of my infamous “Birthday Road Trips” with my camera, trying to take the number of football grounds I have visited to over 600 – mission accomplished ! The grand total now currently stands at 604 to be precise and was reached via two days of splendid sunshine, superb scenery and serious snapping across Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset & Bristol with my first night spent in a hotel for almost a year in between. I also spent a very windy morning on my actual birthday visiting the Clifton Suspension Bridge – walking across it is something else, you are so high above the River Avon and the nearby A4 it is simply jawdropping and by continuing up a steep but easily manageable hill the other side you can get some amazing views of the bridge and surrounding areas. All pretty spectacular stuff, but I have now got just under a year to come up with a REALLY special trip to mark my 60th birthday in 2022 …

Meanwhile, back in normality, I came up with what I felt was a particularly strong selection of songs for the show last Monday, feeling refreshed and full of ideas after my mini-break, and the feedback was excellent on the night. If you weren’t able to enjoy my two hours of soul, jazz-funk, disco & reggae at the time, you can hear the repeat play this Saturday at 5pm or head for the ‘Listen Again’ section of this site.
