Neil Gits Exercise

7th January 2023
Posted by Neil Matthew

We all do it. Every year. First of January we make promises, either to ourselves or in the public domain on social media, that we just know we are NEVER going to keep ! We vow to start doing this, stop doing that, repair the house, sort the garden, go here, go there, etc, etc … and by December 31st none of it happened !! I stopped short of making any New Year Resolutions (apart from to carry on enjoying 2023 as much as I did 2022 !) but I did realize when I was planning my diary at the start of this week that I had somehow stopped doing my daily stretches every morning after the Autumn and that now would be a good time to resume.

So for 6 days in a row I have got back in the habit, first thing every morning – arms, legs, knees, toes, sit ups press ups, a bit of everything to kick start the day. I have some terrific walks and drives lined up as soon as the days start to get lighter, so hopefully my body should be super-tuned , ready and raring to go come the first trip. Or more likely, I will have drifted right away from exercise by the end of January and come the day of my first big adventure I will be painfully stretching frantically in the morning and have aching muscles all along the motorway !

Thankfully, sitting in a radio studio playing two hours of super soul tunes requires very little physical effort at all – apart from pressing a CD button or clicking a mouse ! – so you can rest assured I will be back in Studio 1 live on Monday to present another cracking show. Here is last week’s playlist, head for “Listen Again” if you missed it or catch the ‘Repeat Play’ on Saturday at 5pm …
