Neil Gits Extra Layers On

You might have noticed it’s been a bit chilly recently ! Although conditions have not been as bad as when all that show fell suddenly one Sunday and refused to budge for a week, the overnight frosts have been pretty severe in the mornings. Yet, when I kept glimpsing bright spells of sunshine from the warmth of “Old Git HQ” I felt the urge to get out and about with my camera once again, after about 6 weeks of “hibernation” …

I recalled from this time last year, when nothing was going to stop me going to football, however cold, that I found an old coat I didn’t used to like (it was a present!) but tried it on again and boy was it snug ! Combined with a woolly hat & gloves, T shirt, polo top AND sweatshirt I was well-layered up to face the elements. But … the ‘coup de grace’ was finding what can best be described as old pyjama bottoms, thin enough to go under my jeans, but thick enough to prevent icy cold legs !! With my thick walking socks and go-anyhere-any-weather boots, I was good to go …

With all the concern about rising fuel prices, I even tried the same get up indoors (minus the big coat !) when watching TV, rather than add to my gas bill, but when I found out that operating the remote control was near impossible in thick gloves, I soon dispensed with that experiment and turned up the heating after all ! One thing that is NOT cold is the soul music I play on my show … but it is COOL !
