Neil Gits Flustered

I wouldn’t say that I am a social media addict, whose whole life seems to revolve around what “happens” on those platforms, but I do find Facebook useful and entertaining in small measures. It is the only one I am signed up to and generally just drop in and out of it two or three times a day to keep an eye on the pages I am involved with, so I was quite shocked at what an impact it had on me when it suddenly crashed a couple of weeks ago.

Rather inconveniently, the website managed to disappear from the internet shortly before my live show and didn’t return until just after I had finished and yes, it was badly missed ! With almost all of my regular listeners being active on there and it being my main point of contact with them, I couldn’t give the show a last minute plug and once underway I was unsure who was actually tuned in and counting on a mention on the “Soulful Roll Call”. I also missed all the sociable banter on there and towards the end of my two hours stint, I was almost feeling quite lonely and neglected – perhaps I need Facebook more than I realized !

Fingers crossed, all should be as normal tomorrow (Monday) and you will be able to get in touch at your own leisure, posting emoticons and emojis on the page as you wish, maybe making a comment using a whole sentence made up those old fashioned things called “words” (!) giving your approval or otherwise to the songs I play or just begging to hear your name on the radio !
