Neil Gits Frustrated

What was it about last weekend and the internet ? It took me twice as long to prepare my show for Monday after my computer decided it was time to do a big update on itself and posted up the ominous warning “this may take a litle longer than usual”, but luckily I was able to re-set it so it did it while I was asleep – I once waited around THREE HOURS for it to fully restart and wasn’t going to get my fingers burned again.

Once it was all ready to use again on Sunday morning, inevitably all the settings I had painstakingly adjusted to suit my personal needs returned to their default position, which meant having to remember how I had re-adjusted them last year in between trying to work on my preparation. It was like taking a bus journey that lasts 45 minutes to drive from A-B as it stops three times in every village either side of the main road, when you could drive the route in 15 in the car !!

And of course, several of the websites and programmes I use also decided last weekend would be a great time to proudly launch their “exciting new look” meaning that sizes, colours, fonts and wording I had got used to all changed and places that I used to click in the middle were now at the side and ones that used to be at the bottom were at the top, etc , etc – it’s quite painful thinking about it all again ! Well, I am an “Old Git” what did you expect ?

Obviously, I got through the ordeal, the show got finished and broadcast as usual last Monday (repeated today at 5pm – if it’s Saturday !) and I am just about to calmly manouevure my way through all the various tasks again as I gradually get used to that six letter word beginning with “C” that strikes fear into my heart on a regular basis ………….. “Change” !!
