It’s a New Year – but rest assured there will be plenty more of the same old waffle direct from “Old Gits HQ” for you to enjoy in my weekly blog ! I have made no really formal, solid resolutions to stick to in 2024 as in all honesty I am quite content with how my life has panned out in retirement. The various minor tweaks I have made to my lifestyle along the way in the last two years have worked out quite well – but there’s always room for improvement…
One of the first things I did this week was to pop down to George @ Asda and buy some new sheets for my bed. I have four various duvet covers that I rotate, but each one seems to produce different results in my sleep patterns for some reason. The newest one is the most comfortable, but it is a really dull grey colour and on the rare occasions I get ill, it always seems to be when that one is in situ. I have two much older ones in bright cheerful colours and I feel very snug when I slip under neath them, but both come with “normal” sheets which after a week or so seem to end up in a right old tangle and are a real pain to tuck back in and get flat & smooth again.
I also have another duvet with penguins on it (this one always seem to produce the most bizarre dreams in the night !!) but it came with an elasticated sheet which is so much better – I can put that on the bed at the start of the month and four weeks later it wll still only need the most gentle of strokes to get it ready for night-time again. So I decided that as I am quite old now and sleep is very important to me, I would buy three more sheets with the stretchy corners and so far so good, I have slept wonderfully well each night so far in 2024 …
