Anyone who has the misfortune to be in the small “inner circle” of my friends at the moment and actually gets to speak to me face to face or on the phone will know how prone I am to really going off on one this year, but worry not – I haven’t broken my world ranting and raving record this week ! At least I don’t think so – it’s hard to remember what’s “normal” and what’s not these days !!
No, we are talking about keeping warm here. Maybe it’s down to global warming or maybe I am just extra conscious of keeping the household bills down as much as possible in these hard times, but it was only the other day that I finally caved in and switched the central heating on … in November ! That was a first – I usually have to succumb around the middle of October, but it wasn’t until I could feel my nose turning cold sat at the PC in “Old Git Towers” on Thursday that I reluctantly reached for the Big Switch. Jolly nice it felt too, but it can be an expensive pleasure so now I have to be disciplined and turn it off again at more regular intervals too !!
Luckily there’s no danger of me “ranting & raving” on air, as it always seems that the minute I step foot in the studio for my show, I can put everything else aside and “lose myself” in being the old me again, happily spinning those classic old 70s & 80s soul, jazz-funk & disco tunes, along with some of the finest quality newer tracks that find their way to me. Plus there’s some top banter to be exchanged with my lovely listeners along the way via Facebook – always good for the odd smile – and the temperature in there is pretty constant, so no nasty surprises in extreme weather !
I will be back in my little oasis of sanity this Monday as always from 7 – 9pm , live with two hours of the good stuff. Last week’s playlist is posted below and you can still hear it by heading for the “Listen Again” section of this site and selecting “Cool Soul”.
