Neil Gits His Comb Out

22nd August 2020
Posted by Neil Matthew

Like a lot of other members of the male population, I went quite a few months without a haircut this year, not that I normally have much to see to anyway ! But despite it becoming obvious this summer that I really could do with a trim, I wasn’t one of those men rushing to make an appointment at the barbers when they re-opened. Number 1 … I can’t afford it, having not received a penny in income since March 12th ! Number 2 … In any case the G/F now normally gives my mainly bald head a once over with the clippers when neeeded. However, rather inconveniently, just when I was ready to have four months of “fluff” removed, she suddenly got a date for a long-awaited operation on her clipping hand – and that was that !

So now my hair looks quite bizarre – but I have to admit, I rather like it actually, it gives me that “eccentric genius professor look” (a bit like Dr Emmett Brown in “Back To The Future” !) and best of all it’s nice to have something to run my fingers through after all these years of being a near skinhead ! This week I even had to resort to digging out my old comb from the back of the wardrobe as it felt like it needed a once-through – and yes it still worked even after about 7 years !!! I hadn’t lost the knack …

If you look at my profile picture on this site, I look nothing like that now, but I won’t be updating it any time soon, much as I am fond of my “new style” the honest truth is that it is a mess !!! However, as pretty much the only time I venture out in public now is to come and host my radio show live on a Monday at 7pm (and then usually with a cap on!) and only Tyler, John, Danny or whoever else is on Drive Time gets to see it for a short while, then it can stay for the foreseeable !

Such is the magic of radio, that the tunes sound great every time, no matter how my hair, clothes, complexion or physique look so here is this week’s selection available today (Saturday) at 5pm on the ‘Repeat Play’ or whenever suits you via “Listen Again” …
