Last week’s blog was all about my regular driving routes and experiences along the way, but a couple of weeks ago I was on a less familiar road in a rural location and got caught up in a delay at some slow changing traffic lights at a crossroads. I am a pretty laid back kind of guy and rarely in a rush to get anywhere so it doesn’t bother me if I get stuck in such a situation for a short while, I just look around and about out of the window and keep an eye open for ‘ inspiration ‘ …
On this occasion though it was an unfortunate case of “wrong place, wrong time”. It was a wet & windy day and I found myself waiting for the lights to change close to a large oak tree – which at that precise moment found the need to shed itself of most of its nuts onto the roof and windscreen of my car ! At first I thought I was in the middle of one of those dramatic shoot-outs you see on a TV show, as it was a bit like machine gun fire for a couple of minutes (only a lot slower to be fair!) but once I regained my composure I noticed acorns rolling off my car bonnet and relaxed ….
When I reached my destination I checked for any possible damage but all was OK although at the time it did make a hell of a noise, like some other radio shows on other stations when I have the misfortune to experience them ! However, your ears are in good hands on a Monday evening on Gateway when I provide you with two hours of super soul, jazz-funk & disco goodness from the 70s 80s & beyond, followed by Ben’s excellent country music show and some nice chilled-out ‘Late Night Love’ songs from Vish.
