Neil Gits Home In Time For Breakfast !

I think I might possibly have mentioned how much I have enjoyed my Saturdays out watching lower level football matches at venues all over the country during the last three months but with the clocks going back last night, meaning less daylight to drive and take photographs in, plus with the weather no doubt taking a big turn for the worse as we hit November, I think I may have to put the trips on hold for now …

They have really helped me re-charge my batteries and helped me to cope with some tough scenarios in my life recently, although one down side of getting out on the road each weekend has been the chaos caused to my eating schedule ! As part of each trip, one important component is trying a cheeseburger at each ground and the traditional thing to do is have such fine fayre at half-time, but even at the quietest of matches, it is still quite a rush getting served and eating in time for the second-half. So as I tend to arrive at football grounds very early to get a good parking spot, I have got into the habit of eating my “main meal” at about 2.30pm once I have taken most of my best photos of the stadiums while the shadows are not too long. Normally, at home, and being a night person, I don’t eat my breakfast till at least midday and have my dinner mid evening around 9pm with lunch in between about 4-5pm – so that routine is turned right on its head by eating a burger and chips two hours after I would normally have toast & marmalade !

I solved the problem by doing just that – turning the day upsde down ! With a few handily placed biscuits in the car to keep me going until “Burger Time”, I now have lunch on a comfort break at motorway services (I take a packed one – nobody in their right mind pays extortionate prices for a sandwich on the M1 or M4 !!) half-way home and get the grill on for a Big Boy’s Cooked Breakfast as soon as I get in, even if it’s gone 10pm … no-one said I have a healthy lifestyle !! Yesterday, as I only went to Potters Bar Town FC, less than an hour away, I almost wasn’t hungry enough for breakfast when I got in before 7 o’clock … lol
