Well the Jubilee Weekend has been and gone and thankfully the weather was pretty good on the whole for the four day break. With A13 Annie having some rare time off work midweek, I decided to treat her to a day out and do something terribly, terribly English on the Thursday together to mark QEII’s big celebrations … and so it was that we found ourselves sitting by the beach at Aldeburgh in Suffolk, scoffing some of their world famous fish n chips – heaven !!
With the sunshine continuing and blue skies above, it seemed rude not to take the scenic route back through rural Essex, avoiding the chunk of the A12 from Colchester to Chelmsford and admiring some of the unspoilt scenery in places like Chappel, Ford Street, Earls Colne and Halstead where we took a break to do something else terribly English … eat a couple of ice creams to round off our chippy lunch earlier !
Yes, I am definitely something of a traditionalist really, I don’t embrace change easily and prefer to savour the tried and trusted aspects of life, especially when it comes to music ! So if you enjoy soul, jazz-funk & disco music from and inspired by the classic era of the 70s & 80s, free from pounding house beats, urban hip-hop rhythms, auto-tuned vocals and intrusive unnecessary raps join me in “Old Git World” on the radio this and every Monday night LIVE from 7-9 pm … and don’t forget this month we are on that new fangled DAB thingy too if that means anything to to you ! 😉
