Neil Gits Listing

5th December 2020
Posted by Neil Matthew

With no football, no work and not much decent weather over the last month to lure me out of the house, I have spent a lot of time indoors doing what I like to call ” admin ” … which in ” Old Git Speak ” basically means indulging in one of my odd obsessions by making lists !! The fact that I mentioned football in the first line of this blog will not surprise regular readers of this page – it has always played a big part in my life – and thus most of my lists of grounds visited and photographs taken have been kept well up to date, as have most of the lists about music which is also pretty important in my line of work !

But as with most other people, this year has seen me watch an awful lot more films than ever before and it became clear that a new list desperately needed to be made so I could tailor my continued movie viewing accordingly. Hence this week the ” Films Seen List ” was born – detailing every film I’ve ever seen, what year it was released in the UK and on what format I first saw it : cinema, TV, video, DVD and now one of about four other streaming platforms … terribly modern for me, eh ?!

And finally we come to the lists I have made of songs to play on my radio show over the last 10 years – as you would expect they are impeccably organized and I have fallen back on them many times to select a good mix of 70s & 80s soul, dance, jazz, fun k & disco as well as occasional other eras and styles such as the 60s, 90s, reggae and R’n’B not to mention the never ending flow of good quality 21st Century Soul that finds its way into my hands each week. Of course, the occasional listener request is always welcomed and then I have to slot a chosen track back onto its list to wait for another week – I have actually had quite a glut of suggestions over the last few days and you can hear the first few of these during this Monday’s new live show from 7-9pm. Before then you can hear the ‘Repeat Play’ this evening (Saturday) at 5pm or track it down via “Listen Again” by clicking at the top of this page ! Here is the latest playlist :
