When I left the studio this week and returned to my car I was quite taken aback that it was almost total normal daylight outside – I wondered if I had somehow finished my show an hour too early ! The previous week it was still quite light but you could tell that it would soon be dark, so I guess summer must well and truly be here now – it will be the longest day next Tuesday, the official start of the season …
On Wednesday I had to collect Nathan from Gatwick Airport on his return from a lads’ jolly to Greece which required me to leave my house in the middle of the night and hang around in the McDonalds car park for over an hour in the dark. However, his flight was delayed by 90 minutes or so and finally landed at 3.03am, meaning that once he had got through passport control, collected his luggage, walked over to my car from the North Terminal (and popped in said Maccie Ds to grab supplies !) daylight was just beginning to appear in Crawley. And for the second time in a month I found myself driving into the sunrise on a deserted A13 and going to bed as the rush hour began at just before 6am !!! Just when you thought life couldn’t get more exciting, eh ?
Whether it is pitch black outside or brilliant sunshine, one thing remains the same on a Monday between 7 & 9pm – the quality of the tunes you can hear on “The Old Gits Soul Show” each week !
