I was chatting on the phone to my 17 year old son just over a week ago about all things football (as we do quite regularly!) and mentioned how I wouldn’t mind seeing “The Big Match” last Sunday as broadcast ‘live’ as opposed to avoiding the score and watching the highlights later on “Match Of The Day”. The game in question was of course Liverpool (My favourite Premier League team) versus Manchester United (his!) and a potential cracker of a fixture with one team having just gone top of the table knocking off of the other …

Then on Sunday morning I got a surprise call from Nathan asking if I had “Now TV” installed on my TV and, after a few difficult techy questions to answer, he announced he would treat me to a £9.99 Sky Sports Day Pass so I could watch it that way plus any other games being shown last Sunday ! My, how times have change so quickly – about a year ago I paid the exact same amount for him so he could watch a big pay per view boxing match when he was living at mine, but here we are in 2021, I am not working / earning at all and he is coining it in on his first ever paid job at McDonalds and treating his old dad !! Bless ….

Old is the word – a lovely gesture as it was, it did highlight how the years have zipped by, but as you know by now I am quite happy being an “Old Git” , especially when indulging in my love of 70s & 80s soul, jazz-funk & disco music to share with you each Monday – and I can guarantee that if you tune in it will be more entertaining than the dull 0-0 stalemate of a draw he paid for me to watch !!
