Neil Gits Spat At !

To prick or not to prick ? That is the question that has been raised so often in the kitchen at breakfast times or in the garden at a summer BBQ. From when I first started cooking sossies for myself at home, I was definitely a pricker, but then later on when I started hearing people say that you shouldn’t, I gradually stopped doing it. However, pricking or not pricking it didn’t seem too make much difference to the issues that arose, so I became a bit 50/50.

In recent times, I have noticed a serious decline in the quality (and size !) of the big supermarkets’ own brand offerings, even the alleged ‘premium level’ porkies, and have taken the plunge to pay that bit extra for locally produced speciality fayre. My favourites at the moment have to be “Porky Whites” (other makes are available as we DJs tend to feel we need to say !) and they clearly say on the packet “Do NOT prick these sausages before cooking” with the end results being very satisfying to my hungry tummy each weekend. Yet last Sunday whilst turning them over (as also recommended …) a rogue banger still spurted a brief stream of hot fat at my hand ! Still, I had the last laugh, knife & fork in hand, as it tasted great…
