Neil Gits Swamped

20th February 2021
Posted by Neil Matthew

They came at me from all angles last week. Yes, it seems like a number of my listeners have so much time on their hands, what with one thing and another at the moment, that they’ve resorted to thumbing through their own treasured record collections to come up with inspirational ideas for my show – and some brilliant old tunes have been uncovered along the way !

Whether they’s been from the 60s,70s, 80s or 90s – soul, jazz-funk, disco, Northern, fusion, reggae or whatever else I find room to play on occasion, the requests came flying in and quite a show it made for last Monday. You can hear it again by tuning in to Gateway on 97.8FM at 5pm this evening (Saturday) or heading for the “Listen Again” section of this website and searching out what you’ve missed from there.

This Monday, 22nd February, the slots look just about full-up too, but keep sending your brilliant choices in and I will include them as soon as possible another time. Of course not everything suggested by everyone fits the bill, but as a gesture of goodwill if you have a track that I might normally consider to be too “pop” “housey” “hippy-hoppy” or just downright “cheesey”, send them over in the next few days and I will play them all on the 29th February ….
